It's Official: Swine Flu Actually Saved Thousands of Lives in the UKby Heidi Stevenson6 December 2010
After the massive campaign to scare people into allowing themselves to be subjected to swine flu vaccinations, the truth is finally coming out. The disease itself saved thousands of lives in the UK alone. The general consensus is that swine (H1N1) flu successfully competed with seasonal (H3N1) flu. In spite of all the fear mongering, H1N1 proved to be a particularly mild strain. People who came down with it were less likely to contract H3N1, and they were unlikely to suffer harm, other than a bout of mild flu. The result was far fewer deaths during the last flu season. During the last flu season ending in April, 474 people in the UK died of the disease. A mild flu season would usually result in 2,000 to 4,000 deaths, and a severe season can leave 10,000 to 20,000 dead, most of whom are elderly. The UK officially expected about 65,000 deaths. The amount of money spent in the vaccination campaign was £1.2 billion. According to The Independent, the number of deaths from influenza was among the smallest ever recorded. They quoted the Director of Retroscreen Virology, John Oxford, as saying: The swine flu virus was the fittest virus last year in the Darwinian sense. It dominated the whole scene and pushed out influenza viruses that would normally kill the elderly. So the elderly couldn't be killed by the normal epidemic viruses and they couldn't be killed by swine flu as they had some immunity. So the paradox is that in the first year of the pandemic there are fewer deaths than normal. The interesting point is that most flu deaths occur in the elderly. However, most of them were immune to swine flu because they'd developed a natural resistance years earlier from having had the disease. So, they tended not to come down with swine flu, and because swine flu appears to have outcompeted H3N1, fewer elderly people came down with the flu. No one is even trying to claim that the vaccination had anything to do with the relatively low mortality. Member of Parliament, Paul Flynn, said: It's placebo medicine on a grand scale, bought at the expense of hundreds of millions of pounds. The Chief Executive of the TaxPayers' Alliance, Matthew Elliott, expressed his disgust: This is yet more evidence that officials squandered vast sums of money by overreacting to scaremongering. To make this entire fiasco even worse, The Cochrane Collaboration has just produced a significant study showing that there is little to show any benefit in flu vaccines: No Value in Any Influenza Vaccine: Cochrane Collaboration Study Clearly, the powers-that-be have an agenda that has little to do with protecting the public's health when they engage in fear mongering to herd people into queues for flu vaccinations. It's up to each one of us to investigate and make our own decisions. Why take the risk of severe harm from the vaccines, as documented in the link above, for absolutely no benefit? ***************************************************************************** *****************************************************************************
