Toxic Waste brand Nuclear Sludge candies have been recalled for being...toxic. It's true. Single bars were found to contain 0.24 parts per million (ppm). The FDA allows 0.1 ppm—though that amount is probably not safe, either. These candies are sold throughout the United States and in the United Kingdom. The toxic stuff is sold in retail stores and online. The sales pitch tends to run like, "Toxic Waste. Hazardously Sour Candy." That's four kinds of sweeteners: sugar, glucose syrup, dextrose, and maltodextrine; a bit of sour flavor; flavorings, which is a term that can hide a multitude of sins; and colors, which are indicted in ADHD and other charming problems.
