Dr. Wakefield Supports the Holistic Approach to HealthWakefield says that the risk to their careers is no excuse for doctors being quiet about harmful treatments & vaccines. Of course, it's also nice to note that he echoes the views of Gaia Health!by Heidi Stevenson10 February 2011
The courageous and genuine Scientist, Doctor Andrew Wakefield, has done a revealing interview with Mike Adams. During the 37 minutes, he demonstrates his humility, intelligence, integrity, and absolute dedication to the welfare of children and the future of humanity. He also clarifies a view on health that coincides with alternatives like homeopathy, Ayurvedic, and Traditional Chinese medicines, along with a clear disgust for those scientists and doctors who know the truth, but refuse to act on it for fear of harming their careers. You can watch the interview and read a partial transcript here. Regarding MicrobesDr. Wakefield stated: I've grown to have a huge respect for [infectious bacteria and viruses] over the years. We are here on the Earth now because of infection. Not in spite of it, because of it. Our immune system has been fashioned, shaped, designed over millions of years, since we first emerged from the primordial soup as single-celled organisms to evolve a hugely complex immune system that is a result of its interaction, its education with infectious agents. They are the prime factor in developing our immune responsiveness. He went on to state that the route of infection, the strain of infection, the dose of infection, and the age of becoming infected are a "subtle ecological balance which has evolved over such a long time," and that by tinkering with it via vaccines, "it is no wonder that you are going to have unexpected, unintended consequences." In information the transcript doesn't include, Dr. Wakefield points out a fact that homeopaths have been trying to get across, that many infections are actually beneficial, stating "We require them for education of our gut system." Indirectly, he sends a missile across the bow of routine caesarian births by pointing out that passage through the vaginal canal exposes a newborn to "what is likely to be healthy gut flora, at least historically". Also not included in the transcript was Dr. Wakefield's example of pneumococcus bacteria that have "eluded us", that is, have become drug resistant. I reported on that in Vaccine Pushed on Infants Causes Drug-Resistant Pneumonia: JAMA Study. Regarding ScienceRegarding science, he stated that it has: has sold out to the pharmaceutical industry, and to the pharma-government complex. Medical schools are dependent upon their funding in large part from the pharmaceutical industry, or pharmaceutical industry influences, and this is dancing with the Devil in respect to the way in which science should be conducted, and the influences placed upon it.... Regarding the Nature of HealthDr. Wakefield's words on what we're trying to do to our environment were close to my heart. My article, Sterilizing the World Will Not Make Us Safe, is echoed by his words, "You cannot sterilize the world, nor should you." Regarding Doctors and ScientistsDr. Wakefield doesn't mince words in stating his opinion of doctors and scientists who know that there's a problem, yet do nothing: I talk to many scientists, many physicians whose children are affected by autism following vaccines who say I know there is a problem, but we don't dare step out of line. We look at what happened to you, and we don't dare step out of line. &hellips;and I do meet these people all the time, and to me that's unacceptable. Because the future of the world depends upon the wellbeing of our children. These are the highlights of Dr. Wakefield's comments. He speaks with authority and gentility, and without rancor. He has clearly has taken a serious look at the nature of modern medicine and found it wanting. His take on microbes and their place in our lives, not to mention his recognition that routine sterility isn't beneficial, places him firmly in the camp of holistic practitioners, whose basic take on health generally encompasses those concepts. Though I would have preferred a good deal less of Mike Adams and more of Dr. Wakefield, Adams deserves kudos for landing the interview and being able to take it into territory that clarifies Dr. Wakefield's views, and allows him to express them freely and provide the logic that has led him to his ideas.
