Natural Treatments for Radiation—Quick Reference

  • Prevention
    • If exposed to radiation, remove and destroy clothes, then wash skin thoroughly by soaking and using soap.
    • (Thyroid Only) Kelp tablets, approximately 43 mg. for one or two days immediately before radiation arrives.
  • After Exposure
    • Spirulina to detox radiation. Start with 5 mg per day & plan to take for 6 weeks. Experimentation with higher doses is likely safe, but it should be taken with Milk Thistle to protect against liver stress from materials it detoxes.
    • Chlorella. Though often claimed as a radiation detoxer, there is no evidence to support the claim, other than for ultraviolet radiation, the type that causes sunburns. It is, though, superb as a nutrient to counter the symptoms of radiation in cancer treatments. It is, therefore, a good choice to help support health after radiation exposure.
    • Kombuchka Tea has been documented to detox gamma radiation. When radioactivity comes from uranium or plutonium, as are found in nuclear power plants, gamma radiation is the most significant type.
    • Bentonite Clay and Zeolite, though often recommended for detoxing after radiation exposure, have not been documented to do so. Most likely, it is their genuine ability to detox heavy metals that has led to this assumption.
    • Milk Thistle is one of the most important herbs to have on hand in the event of radiation exposure. Any detoxing is likely to overload your liver, and nothing supports liver health like Milk Thistle.
    • Many nutrients and supplements can be beneficial after radiation exposure. However, they tend to have symbiotic relationships. Therefore, the best advice is to eat a high quality diet without any processed foods and avoid sugar.
